- I commend Time Inc. and Warner Communications on their
- brilliant plan for a merger (BUSINESS, March 20). Finally,
- someone has got the right idea: keep American businesses safe
- from foreign acquisition. If completed, this merger could be the
- start of something desperately needed today, putting the U.S.
- back to No. 1, where it belongs.

- For years, capitalists have been decrying Communism, while
- all along they have been trying to emulate that single-minded
- system through merger mania. The main weakness of Communism and
- large corporations alike is that bureaucracy takes precedence
- over creativity, and that is surely a debilitating factor.

- At last a megamerger that has valid business purposes,
- repels foreign buyers and does not leave a mountain of debt. Is
- this merger too good to be true? I think not. Go for it!

- We have been companions for a long time, but I regret to
- say that since you will be entering the entertainment business,
- you won't be taken seriously anymore.
